Cropanion

Privacy Policy

All plant care advice in this app is for general informational purposes only and does not replace professional agricultural consultation.

1. Data Controller

The person responsible for processing personal data in this app is: Mustafa Kocaman (cropanion.app@gmail.com). This is the party that decides why and how your data is processed. You may contact this address directly to exercise your rights.

2. Data We Collect

Account details: full name, username, email address, profile photo. Garden data: city name, garden type, the plants you add, sowing dates, weekly tasks, watering records and your garden log notes and photos. The Grower (verified grower) accounts you follow. If you have a Grower account, also: the content you publish and your Grower profile details. Technical data: a device notification key (FCM token) so we can send notifications, and your daily AI usage counter. We do not collect ID numbers, street addresses, payment details or health data.

3. Why We Use It

To create and protect your account; to calculate a watering and care schedule specific to your plants; to generate weather-based warnings and advice; to show you relevant Grower content and the accounts you follow; to send notifications; and to enforce the daily limit on AI analysis. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. If you asked for a reminder when starting a free trial, we send a single reminder email to your account address before the trial ends; we don't send marketing emails.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your account details, plants, tasks, watering records, garden log and (if you are a Grower) the content you publish are stored in the cloud on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firestore database and Cloud Storage). The app also keeps a local cache of this data on your device so it works offline. Your data therefore exists both in the cloud and on your device; if you change phones, you regain access by signing in to your account.

5. Location

If you grant permission, we use your location only to determine your city and fetch weather data for it. Your precise coordinates (latitude and longitude) are stored solely on your device and are never sent to our servers; only the city name is written to the cloud. You may decline location permission, in which case you pick your city manually and the app continues to work.

6. AI Feature

When you report a plant problem, the photo and description you submit are sent to Google Gemini for analysis. That content is processed under Google's own privacy policy. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading and does not replace professional agricultural advice. We recommend not including identity documents, faces or other personal information in your photos.

7. Garden Log and Grower Content

Your garden log is private: your entries and photos are not shown to other users. Inside the app only verified growers (Growers) can publish content; Grower content and Grower profile details are visible to other users, and each Grower is legally responsible for what they publish. You can report Grower content from within the app. We reserve the right to remove content that breaches the rules without prior notice and to suspend accounts. If you choose to share cards generated by the app outside the app (for example on social media), that post is governed by the rules of the platform you share it on.

8. Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, notifications, usage measurement and crash reporting), Google Gemini (AI analysis), RevenueCat (subscription management), Open-Meteo (weather and climate data), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (finding the city name from coordinates) and Google Fonts. Only coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo and Nominatim and they are not linked to your identity. To improve the app, Firebase Analytics collects anonymous usage data (which screens and features are used, device model, app version, country) and Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports; this data is not linked to your name or email. You can turn this off at any time in Settings > App > Share usage data. Each service is governed by its own privacy policy.

9. Retention and Deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all your data from within the app via Settings > Account > Delete My Account. Deletion covers your plants, tasks, watering records, garden log, photos, the accounts you follow and your profile information, and cannot be undone. Content you published as a Grower is outside this scope: under section 7 of the Terms of Use it is not deleted but stays published anonymously, with your name, username, profile photo and link to your account removed. If a post contains personal data that identifies you, such as your face, you can ask us in writing to remove it. Deletion requests are completed within 15 days. Records subject to a legal retention obligation (for example moderation reports) may be kept only for the period required by the applicable law.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your country you have the right to access your data, request its correction, request its deletion (cancellation) and object to its processing. In Latin American countries these are known as ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, opposition). Your rights under KVKK in Türkiye, the GDPR in the European Union and the CCPA in California are reserved. You can exercise access and deletion directly inside the app; for other requests, write to us.

11. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at anyone under 13 (under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age. If we become aware of such a case, we delete the account and the data.

12. Security

Your data is transmitted and stored encrypted on Google Firebase infrastructure. Access is restricted to your account through authentication rules. No system is completely secure; in the event of a serious breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the competent authority within the period required by the applicable law.

13. Changes

This text may be updated. Significant changes are announced inside the app. The current version is always published on this page and on our website.
